Credit Suisse Mint
History of Credit Suisse Mint
Credit Suisse was established in 1856 in Zurich with the aim of funding the construction of a national rail system in Switzerland. To raise funds, the new bank issued loans which eventually powered the construction and growth of the entire European rail system as well as Switzerland’s national electrical grid. In the 1900s, the institution started to expand to retail banking and today is one of the largest financial companies with offices all over the world.
Credit Suisse first entered the precious metals market in the late 1960s, when it established a bullion division to provide clients with access to gold and other precious metals as an investment option. By leveraging its extensive network and expertise in the financial sector, Credit Suisse was able to quickly rise in the ranks and become a prominent player in the bullion industry.
Today, Credit Suisse offers a wide range of precious metals products to investors, institutions, and governments, and has earned a well-deserved reputation for its exceptional craftsmanship. It is one of the most trusted bullion refiners in the world with an impeccable reputation for producing high-quality investment-grade precious metals products.
Bullion products from Credit Suisse
Credit Suisse offers a vast range of precious metals bullion products, including gold bars, silver bars, platinum bars, and palladium bars.
Credit Suisse gold bars
Credit Suisse was the first bank to issue gold bullion in smaller denominations, allowing investors easy entry into the precious metals market. Today, it manufactures gold bullion bars in a variety of denominations, including a 20g Credit Suisse gold bar, 10 oz Credit Suisse gold bar, and 100 g Credit Suisse gold bar.
Every Credit Suisse gold bar is made from exceptional .9999 pure fine gold and produced by Valcambi, one of the most well-known Swiss precious metals refineries. The most popular gold bar purchased by investors is the 1 oz gold bar, largely due to its lower premium and ease of liquidity.
Credit Suisse silver bars
Credit Suisse silver bars are both cast and minted and available in 1g up to 250g, 500g, and 1 kg sizes. Although production of their silver bars is now discontinued, they are still available for purchase due to the sheer number that were produced. All Credit Suisse silver bars are made from .999 pure Swiss silver which is amongst the finest in the world.
Credit Suisse platinum bars
Platinum bullion bars by Credit Suisse are made from 99.95% pure investment-grade platinum. They are available in denominations including 1g, 5g, 1 oz, and 10 oz, however the 1 oz size is the most popular amongst platinum investors. Like their other bullion bars, Credit Suisse platinum bars are produced by Valcambi.
Credit Suisse palladium bars
Credit Suisse also manufactures palladium bars, which are only available in the one ounce size. Like their other precious metals bullion, palladium bars by Credit Suisse are manufactured by Valcambi from 99.95% pure palladium.
Credit Suisse bullion bars design
The design of Credit Suisse’s bullion bars is largely the same, regardless of whether they are made from gold, silver, platinum, or palladium. Like many other precious metals producers, Credit Suisse focuses its efforts on producing minted ingots featuring the brand’s logo. These are usually aimed at investors rather than collectors, who tend to flock towards coins.
Most Credit Suisse bars have the same obverse design, featuring the company’s logo at the top of the bar. This has the Credit Suisse name contained inside a curved rectangular shape. Other markings on the obverse of bullion bars include the item’s weight, purity, and metal content, as well as the assayer’s mark and individualized serial number.
The reverse side of the bars is more minimalistic. The most prominent design featured on the reverse of Credit Suisse bullion bars is a repeated diagonal pattern of the company’s logo set at a 45-degree angle.
When shipped and sold brand new, Credit Suisse bullion bars are contained in protective tamper-evident packaging and come with an accompanying assay card that bares the item’s weight, purity, metal content, assayer’s signature, and unique serial number assigned to the product. The packaging will also state that the product has been refined by Valcambi SA.
