The 2026 Gold Maple Leaf from the Royal Canadian Mint holds one troy ounce of 99.99% pure gold.
Canada's best-known bullion coin has been issued since 1979, and its sugar maple leaf is one of the most recognisable designs in the precious metals market. The 2026 coin shows the effigy of King Charles III on the obverse and carries a face value of 50 Canadian dollars. We buy new coins directly from the Royal Canadian Mint.
Security features of the 2026 Gold Maple Leaf
The Royal Canadian Mint protects its bullion coins with several layers of security. The background of the reverse is covered in precisely machined radial lines that create a light-diffracting pattern. Next to the leaf you will find a small laser micro-engraved maple leaf containing the digits 26, which is only visible under magnification. On top of this, each coin is registered with the mint's Bullion DNA technology, so dealers with the matching reader can confirm it against the mint's own records.
Because the coin is made of 24-carat gold, it is softer than a 22-carat Krugerrand. We recommend handling it by the edge or leaving it in its sachet to avoid marks on the polished leaf.
With a diameter of 30 mm, the Maple Leaf is noticeably more compact than the 37 mm Vienna Philharmonic, even though both contain the same amount of fine gold, so it takes up little space in a coin box or safe deposit box.

Other years and sizes are listed under Maple Leaf gold coins, and you can read about the issuer on our Royal Canadian Mint page.
Many investors combine the Maple Leaf with a second one-ounce coin from another country, for example the Kangaroo 2026 from the Perth Mint.
