No wildlife symbol more powerfully equates with Australia than the beloved kangaroo. The classic red Kangaroo design on the 1oz Silver Bullion coin was created by Stuart Devlin (in 1982, Devlin was granted the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweler to Her Majesty the Queen. Here on the reverse of the coin, the marsupial is portrayed skipping over the Australian landscape and represents the wildlife in Australia. It is surrounded by rays of sunlight and includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO.

You should be aware that the coin offers additional security features. Each of the 2022 Silver Kangaroo coins have a micro engraved letter A. You can find this mark at the bottom left of the first A of the word AUSTRALIAN. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass and has been added by the Perth Mint to ensure the coin’s authenticity. It is an excellent way to defeat counterfeiters around the world.

The reverse also incorporates the Perth Mint’s P mintmark as well as the coin’s weight, purity and 2022 year-date.

The obverse of the coin features Queen Elizabeth II, who this year celebrates her Platinum Jubilee (70 years since her accession to the throne). The design has been created by Jody Clark and debuted on Australian coins in 2018. It features the Queen aged 89 in right-profile relief. In this now familiar design, the Queen is wearing her diadem crown and the royal jewels and the text reads Queen Elizabeth II, Australian, 1 Dollar.
