History of PAMP Suisse

PAMP was established in the Swiss Canton of Ticino in 1977. The name PAMP is short for Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux, which in English translates to Precious Metals Artistic Products. PAMP's refinery is located in Castel San Pietro, close to the Italian border and two other famous gold refineries, Valcambi and Argor-Heraeus. Being so close to the Italian border was a strategic move for all three of these refineries, allowing them to supply gold to what was once the world's largest jewelry market. Initially, PAMP manufactured small minted gold bars.

You cannot speak about PAMP Suisse without diving into the history of Geneva-based precious metals trading company, MKS. Established in 1979, MKS was founded by Mahmoud Kassem Shakarchi, a popular gold trader in Beirut. After moving to Switzerland, MKS partnered with PAMP refinery to sell their gold bars in the Middle East. In 1981, MKS purchased a controlling interest in the PAMP refinery and went on to open several foreign offices across the world.

In 2001, MKS acquired Manfra, Tordella & Brookes (MTB), a large New York-based coin and bullion dealer. In 2008, PAMP launched a joint venture refinery with India's Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation (MMTC), a gold importer and distributor to bullion dealers and jewelers within India.

PAMP's refinery has an annual gold refining capacity of more than 450 tons and a silver refining capacity of more than 600 tons. The refinery also works with platinum and palladium. Their product range encompasses everything from cast and minted bars to bullion coins, blanks, and commemorative coins as well as alloys, grains, and platinum and palladium sponge.

Reputation of PAMP Suisse

PAMP Suisse has earned a stellar reputation as a trusted and respected name in the precious metals industry. The mint's gold bars are defined as Good Delivery by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), Swiss National Bank, and Chicago Metals Exchange amongst other prestigious international organizations.

PAMP is one of only five refineries in the world that have been appointed Good Delivery referees by the London Bullion Market Association's good delivery referee panel. PAMP Suisse bullion products

PAMP manufactures an enormous range of bullion products, including investment-grade bars and coins. These include:

Gold Bars: PAMP produces both cast and minted gold bars in a range of denominations, including a 2.5g PAMP gold bar up to a 250g PAMP gold bar. A typical PAMP gold bar features their recognizable 'Lady Fortuna' design, portraying the Roman goddess of fortune, as with this 10g PAMP Fortuna gold bar. The refinery also manufactures a range of Lunar bars which feature animals of the Chinese lunar calendar, such as the PAMP Lunar Legends Azure Dragon gold bar. All of PAMP’s gold bars are minted with the highest level of purity, usually 999.9 fine gold.
SIlver Bars: PAMP silver bars feature largely the same designs and denominations as its gold bars. These include the intricately-designed 10oz Royal Bengal Tiger Silver Bar and 1oz PAMP Lunar Rabbit Silver Bar.
Platinum Bars: Investors can also find a range of platinum bars by PAMP, minted with exceptional 999.9 purity and careful craftsmanship. Many of these bars carry similar designs to their silver and gold bar range, such as the 1oz PAMP Fortuna Platinum Bar.
Palladium Bar: PAMP Suisse also produces a range of minted palladium bars, though these may be more difficult to get a hold of.
Multigram Bars: PAMP Multigram bars, such as the 25x1g PAMP Multigram Gold Bar, feature multiple 1g gold bars of 999.9 purity. These can easily be divided into smaller pieces, offering more flexibility with investments.
PAMP Pez Dispenser: This fun investment makes a fabulous gift or collector's item. A twist on the classic Pez candy dispensers, these feature a mix of pure silver or gold bars contained in a Pez dispenser. The 6x5g Silver Bar Santa PEZ Dispenser is an excellent example of the refinery's sense of humor and commitment to fun and innovative products.

Design of PAMP Suisse bullion products

PAMP Suisse is celebrated for its exquisite designs and meticulous craftsmanship, both in its gold bullion bars and silver bars. Each minted bar is adorned with intricate motifs or patterns as well as the mint’s distinctive logo, hallmark, and serial number. Their cast gold bar range does not feature the same intricate designs as their minted range, however the purity and craftsmanship is still intact. The cast range is more simple, featuring the distinct PAMP logo with the word 'SUISSE' in bold lettering as well as the weight and purity of the product. Underneath this are the words 'Essayuer Fondeur' and the item's unique serial number.
