1 oz Bond of the 1960s Gold Coin | 2024
Obverse Side
Did you ever imagine James Bond would inspire a series of investment coins? Here it is, the inaugural release of a new series by the renowned The Royal Mint, celebrating the enduring legacy of the world-famous agent in Her Majesty's service. Aptly named "Six Decades of 007," this series commemorates "60 Years of 007," the timeless box-office sensation!
Featured here is the iconic scene of James Bond piloting the "Little Nellie" helicopter from the 1967 Bond film "You Only Live Twice." At the bottom of the coin, you'll immediately recognize the trademark James Bond logo: the digits "007" accompanied by a pistol. The background of this depiction is filled with titles of many James Bond films. The Royal Mint has intricately and innovatively crafted this design to capture the essence of the scene.
Reverse Side
Here, you'll find the portrait of King Charles III, gazing leftward, unlike his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Surrounding his likeness is the inscription "CHARLES III. D G REX F D," abbreviating the Latin phrase "Dei gratia rex fidei defensor," meaning "By the Grace of God, Defender of the Faith." Following this is the face value of this gold coin, "100 POUNDS." If you look closely around the neck of the king, you'll find the initials "MJ." These initials belong to the British sculptor Martin Jennings, who sculpted this portrait of Charles III, personally approved by His Majesty.
