1 oz Gold Queen’s Beasts Yale of Beaufort
The Queen’s Beasts are ten heraldic statues which represent the Queen Elisabeth’s II royal ancestry. They stood present at her coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953 each bearing historical British emblems. Amongst these beasts was the Yale of Beaufort, a mythical beast which was supposedly white covered with gold marks and had the ability to swivel its horns independently. This beast descended to the Queen through Henry VII who reigned from his seizure of the throne in 1485 until his death in 1509. Henry VII inherited this representative emblem through his mother, Lady Margaret of Beaufort.
