The Argor-Heraeus 100g gold bar is a minted Swiss bar of 999.9 fine gold, sealed in a blister with its assay card.

Argor-Heraeus operates its refinery in Mendrisio, in southern Switzerland, and is accredited by the LBMA as a Good Delivery refiner for gold. That accreditation is one reason its bars are widely recognised by dealers and banks across Europe. We buy every new bar directly from Argor-Heraeus.

Dimensions and finish of the Argor-Heraeus 100g gold bar

According to Argor-Heraeus, the minted 100g bar in its Classic design measures 49.7 x 28.5 x 3.9 mm. It is therefore about the size of a matchbox, yet it holds as much gold as just over three one-ounce coins. The front shows the refiner's logo, the weight, the fineness 999.9 and the words FINE GOLD, while each bar has its own serial number.

The bar is sealed in a transparent blister measuring 85 x 55 mm, roughly the format of a credit card. The card itself is the certificate: it repeats the serial number, so you can confirm at a glance that bar and document belong together. Keeping the blister closed protects the polished surface and makes the bar easier to sell later.

Please note that Argor-Heraeus also makes a KINEBAR version with a hologram security feature on the bar itself. The bar on this page is the Classic minted design without a hologram. Both versions contain the same 100 g of fine gold and are equally VAT-free.

Because its purity is above 995/1000, the bar is investment gold and VAT-free in the EU. A 100g bar is a sensible middle ground: it keeps the premium per gram lower than small bars, and it still lets you sell in manageable steps if you hold several.
