Across the top are the words: FREIE UND HANSESTADT HAMBURG, whilst at the bottom is a solitary “J" representing the mintmark of Hamburg that is still used on modern gold bullion coins today.
On the reverse side is the crowned arms of Germany, the spread eagle with a crown marked by with a Christian Cross in the centre. Inscribed along the top edge are the words DEUTSCHES REICH followed by the year of issue. Along the bottom rim is the face value of 10 MARK.

Security of King Wilhelm II 20 Mark Gold Coins
It is extremely rare for forges to counterfeit coins as old as the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The reason for this is because they are not highly sought after and a forgery of this kind would be a waste of time, and the technology used to manufacture these coins in the 19th Century is no longer available. Therefore anybody fool enough to even attempt counterfeiting such historical coins will not be able to get the forgery past experienced dealers like the experts at StoneX Bullion.
