1 oz American Eagle Gold Coin | 2023

As with the other American Eagle coins, 2021 marks a design change for the 1 oz Gold Eagle. As 2021 is the 35th anniversary of the program, the original reverse design of the coin was rethought. The coin's beauty and value are undeniable and it is one of the most sought-after coins by collectors. Since the US Mint introduced the American Eagle coin series in 1986, investors around the world have been snapping up the coins.

The obverse of the gold coin features the figure of Lady Liberty, depicted by the American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. She is facing forward and appears to be walking towards the front of the coin, with her hair flowing behind her. In her right hand, she holds a torch, which is a symbol of enlightenment: lady liberty is enlightening and leading others to the path of freedom. In her right hand, she holds an olive branch which is often a symbol of peace. The combination of the two objects shows the power and greatness of Lady Liberty. Behind her is the capitol building of the United States and flames that seem to emanate from it. Next to her left foot (bottom right when looking at the coin) is the reference year of the coin, in this case, 2023. In addition to the year of issue, the inscription 'liberty' appears below the protagonist's head. Finally, the fifty stars, the American emblem, are spread around the edge of the coin.

On the reverse of the coin is the new 2021 design by American graphic artist Jennie Norris. It features a portrait of a bald eagle, the iconic animal of the United States. The eagle is depicted in profile, emphasising the details of its plumage and its determined gaze. It is the sense of pride that seems to be conveyed here. There are several inscriptions on the reverse of the coin. First, the words "united states of America", "50 dollars" and "1 oz fine gold" crown and surround the coin. Then the Latin phrase "e Pluribus Unum" appears above the eagle's head, the American motto meaning "out of many, one", and the phrase "in god we trust", which has been the official national motto since 1956. The letters "JN" and "RG" on either side of the eagle refer to the initials of graphic designer Jennie Norris and sculptor Renata Gordon respectively.

The 1 oz Gold Eagle is a coin known for its stable value and beauty. It is sure to please many collectors and investors. This coin is available today on StoneX Bullion.
