2 oz Tudor Beasts Yale of Beaufort Silver Coin | 2023

If you are a fan of the monarchy, or if you want to pay homage to her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, do not wait and purchase this coin on StoneX Bullion today.

Following the amazing success of the Queen’s Beasts Series, the Royal Mint has decided to introduce a new series : the Tudor Beasts. The series which debuted with the Lion of England features a collection of 10 “Beasts”. The design of the 10 beasts are based on the ten heraldic statues that line the Moat Bridge of Hampton Court Palace and that celebrate a fascinating period of British history.. These sculptures were created to commemorate Henry VIII’s marriage to Jane Seymour and represent the might of the Tudor dynasty.

The artist David Lawrence was chosen to design the reverse of the coin.

According to him, the brief requested by the Royal Mint for the design was a natural and realistic representation of the beasts and he used that as a guideline to portrait the Yale of Beaufort.

A 'Yale' is a mythical beast found in European mythology and the imagery was used by the Beaufort family during the fifteenth century. David Lawrence has captured the essence of this amazing mythical creature. The Yale looks very much like a goat, has the tail of a lion and has amazing tusks which are said to move independently of each other. Here, the peculiar creature bears the shield with the arms of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII’s third wife.

On this side, the inscriptions are “Yale of Beaufort, 2 oz, Fine Silver, 999.9, 2023”. An extra security has been added: a chainmail surface animation background texture.

The obverse of the coin features the fifth definitive coinage portrait of Her Majesty The Queen by Jody Clark. We now know that it will be the last portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II and it makes this coin even more special. Becoming the youngest designer to produce a portrait of the Queen, Clark had only been working as an engraver at The Royal Mint for two years prior to an opportunity to produce the famed effigy. The result is truly beautiful and the attention to details remarkable. Her Majesty is shown here at the age of 89 in right-profile relief. The Queen is depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem, an official piece from the Crown Jewels. She looks determined, dignified and focused on her main duty: serving her subjects.

The Queen’s Beasts Series was a success and we expect the Tudor Beasts to follow its footsteps. Today, you have the opportunity to acquire a piece of British history so do not wait and order your coin on StoneX Bullion today.
