The Perth Mint's Marvel Comics series of silver coins may be relatively new, but it is already a massive hit with collectors. The series began with the silver Spiderman coin in 2017 and was quickly followed by the Thor: Ragnarok coin in 2018. The silver Black Panther was issued the same year. Although each coin has coincided with a blockbuster movie featuring the famous characters, the reverse design is based on original Marvel Comics artwork rather than the actors that played them.
Each coin is struck from .9999 pure silver and has a diameter of 40.6 mm. Marvel Comics silver coins are also legal tender and issued for the independent South Pacific island country of Tuvalu. Tuvalu is part of the greater British Commonwealth, so the obverse of each Marvel Comics silver coin bears the Sir Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
