The second release for 2021 in the Lunar III series is the Ox coin. The Ox is the second animal in the Chinese Zodiac, which stems from the 12 year lunar cycle – an approximation to the 11.85-year orbital period of Jupiter. It’s believed people born in a given year have the personality of that year’s animal. Those born in the year of the ox are said to be admired for their strong work ethic, logical mindset and calm demeanor.

The obverse of the coin portrays the Jody Clark likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the face value (30 AUD), date, silver weight and purity (.9999). The reverse sees an ox alongside its calf, plus the Chinese character for “ox”, the inscription “OX 2021” and the Perth Mints “P” mint mark.
