1 Kilo Kookaburra Silver Coin | 2023
We are pleased to present you with another ‘gem’ from the prominent Perth Mint in the form of this 1 kilo Kookaburra silver coin I 2023 in your StoneX Bullion Shop. The Kookaburra motif has been used for Australian silver bullion coins since 1990.
The design side
The Kookaburra plays an important role in Australia because, according to legend, a god ordered these birds to greet the morning with a loud laugh to wake people up so they wouldn't miss the sunrise! Did you know that one of the mascots at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney was a kookaburra called ‘Olly’? So this bird is not only on everyone's lips in Australia in many places!
You can see a somewhat puffed-up and a narrower kookaburra sitting on a branch on this fluted coin. On the upper left edge, you can see the year ‘2023’ as well as ‘1 KILO’ and ‘9999 SILVER’. This is followed by the highlighted lettering ‘KOOKABURRA’ and a ‘P’ below, indicating the Perth Mint.
The value side
On the value side, you can see the world-famous likeness of Queen Elizabeth II looking to the right. On her left shoulder, the initials ‘JC’, the initials of the coin designer Jody Clark, are emblazoned in small letters. This side is ‘surrounded’ by the following inscription: ‘ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 30 DOLLARS’. So you are buying a coin with a face value of 30 Australian dollars.
