1 oz Double Dragon Silver Coin
The design side
In Chinese culture, and particularly in the Chinese zodiac, the dragon, which you can see here in two forms, has a prominent meaning. It represents prosperity and good luck. When, as on this coin, it is depicted with a noble pearl that is on fire, the symbol is also associated with enlightenment and wisdom. The two dragons, which are depicted here in an almost fearsome manner, appear to be floating on this coin. It was produced by the famous ‘The Perth Mint’ mint.
The value side
Here you can see the world-famous portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, who is looking to the right. On her left shoulder, you can see the initials ‘JC’. These reveal the British engraver Jody Clarc, who created this portrait of the Queen. The inscription ‘ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 1 oz 9999 Ag’ wraps around her. You can also see the year of issue, ‘2019’, and the nominal value, ‘1 DOLLAR’.
This coin is limited to 50,000 pieces and has a fine weight of 31.1035g.
About the Australian Mint ‘The Perth Mint’
It is the oldest Australian mint, located in the city of Perth. It began operations in 1899 as a department of the British mint, The Royal Mint. Its business areas are the minting of bullion coins and the casting of bars. The production of jewellery made of precious metals is also part of its business. Since Australia is part of the British Commonwealth, the coins previously bore the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
