The Obverse

The obverse appears to tell a whole story: you see Noah's Ark gliding on the water. In the background, the sun rises magnificently behind Mount Ararat. This is likely meant to symbolize light—both literally and metaphorically—dispelling all darkness and heralding a new beginning. This theme is underscored at the lower right edge of the reeded coin by a splendid dove spreading its wings as if to embrace the remaining people, holding an olive branch in its beak. This depiction serves as a double symbol of peace: the dove itself and the olive branch, both recognized emblems of peace. This opulent image is framed by the inscription in Armenian and English: "NOAH'S ARK."

The Reverse

Prominently placed in the center of the coin is the coat of arms of Armenia. To its right, you can read "1/2 Oz, Ag 999" ("Ag" from the Latin "Argentum," meaning "silver"). Below the coat of arms, in the center, you see the Armenian currency and the denomination "200 DRAM," again in both Armenian and English. Currently, 200 Dram is equivalent to about 0.45 Euros. Around the coat of arms, you find the inscription "REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA" in both Armenian and English. This coin has a fine weight of 15.55175 grams.
