Lunar III 1 oz Tiger Gold Coin

We are all hoping that 2022 will be a strong year after a few years of uncertainty and hardship. In the Chinese Lunar calendar, it will be the year of the Tiger, a proud and fierce animal and for The Perth Mint, this is an opportunity to release a new coin in celebration of this New Chinese Year: the 1 oz Lunar 3 Tiger Gold.

The Australian Lunar coin series has been running for 25 years and is now on its third iteration- so it’s pretty successful! Each year, the lunar series features a specific animal related to the Chinese zodiac. 2021 was represented by an Ox whose qualities are endurance, honesty and diligence..but let’s talk about 2022! This time, the king of all beasts,

The Tiger is in the spotlight. Its qualities (brave, fierce, independent and powerful) have, of course, been portrayed in the beautiful design of the Tiger on the coin. Designer Monique Reeves has created a proud tiger on the reverse, standing on a rock, with its head turned towards his tail. You can clearly see how fearless and magnificent he is with his open jaws featuring sharp teeth.

The obverse of the coin depicts Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. This effigy was designed by Jody Clark and chosen in 2015 through a competition commissioned by the United Kingdom’s Royal Mint Advisory Committee. It is the 6th effigy to feature on Australia’s coins since Her Majesty’s accession to the throne in 1952.

The 1 oz Lunar Tiger Gold will without a doubt be sought after by investors worldwide. It is struck from 999.9 pure gold and its affordable pricing at StoneX Bullion will allow you to add it to your collection without breaking the bank. It will be without a doubt a fantastic addition to your portfolio! The Perth Mint will not produce more than 30 000 1 oz coins so we strongly advise that you secure your purchase as soon as possible. Due to the low mintage, this beautiful coin presented in a protective acrylic capsule will sell out fast.

The Perth Mint’s “P” is included in the design on the left of the Tiger and the Chinese symbol. The Perth Mint opened in 1899 in response to the discovery of rich gold in the Australian regions of Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie. It was then Australia’s third branch of Britain’s Royal Mint (with Sydney and Melbourne). Diggers from all around the world and present in the then colony of Western Australia deposited their raw gold with the Perth Mint where it was refined and minted into gold coins.

Today the Perth Mint is proud to be part of an elite group of world mints whose pure gold, silver and platinum legal tender coins are trusted and renowned everywhere.
