The name of the coin is derived from the armillary sphere: a device that was already well-known in ancient Greece, with which the orbits and movements of celestial bodies can be illustrated. Valcambi has cast this astronomical device in gold with a purity of 999.9/1000, thus creating a coin like none previously made.

Consisting of four individual rings of 1/4 ounce each, the coin can be worn not only as a bracelet (lat. Armilla) but also as a pendant.
