Coronation coin His Majesty King Charles III 1/10 oz gold
The Royal Mint is celebrating British history with an amazing bullion coin range marking the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. The coronation of His Majesty was the first coronation of a British King in 85 years and the event was quite special and followed by millions around the world.
Now this beautiful coronation coin 1/10 oz gold, an homage to the King's Coronation is available for purchase on StoneX Bullion website and this is why you should not miss out on your copy:
The obverse of the coin is the work of British sculptor Martins Jennings. He has been making public sculptures for many years celebrating poets and writers but also comedians and politicians.
Here, Charles III is wearing the Tudor crown. Jennings researched the way the Tudor Crown was presented and looked at old coins such as those of George VI. He says he wanted to give a sense of three dimensions in very low relief. The curve of the crown helps to create the illusion that the edges of the head are turning away from the viewer.
He also gave a lot of attention to the lettering, spacing and background and the result is certainly remarkable. The inscriptions on the obverse read CHARLES III DG REX FD, 10 Pounds and the year of mintage 2023
The reverse of this coin features a brand new design by John Bergdahl, an experienced coinage artist who has created several designs for UK coins and medals including a commemorative portrait of Her Late majesty Queen Elizabeth II in honour of her Platinum Jubilee. On this side is depicted King Charles III crowned royal cypher .A cypher is the Sovereign’s monogram, consisting of the initials of the monarch’s name, Charles and the title Rex-Latin for King, alongside a representation of the Crown. The royal cypher is an enduring symbol of the King’s authority and sovereignty, echoing the grandeur of the British monarchy. This lovely design is surrounded by a wreath, the date of the coronation and the phrase “the coronation of King Charles III”. The same inscription is repeated four times in micro-print near the rim, followed by the precious metal content: 1/10 OZ FINE GOLD 999.9. The designer's initials JB (for John Bergdahl) are below right.
The 1/10 oz gold coins are legal tender but are not intended for circulation. These special editions with limited issues are more like pieces of art. Do not miss out on the opportunity to acquire a piece of British history while adding a beautiful coin to your portfolio.
