29 years of the Gold Nugget Kangaroo
The Perth Mint's world-famous 'Gold Nugget' series began in 1986 as a celebration of Australia's mining history. Taking its name from a reverse design that featured gold nuggets, two unique details set the original Australian Nugget gold coin apart; it had a two-tone frosted effect background and was supplied in a plastic capsule.
The nugget design was dropped in 1989 in favour of the kangaroo. The Red Kangaroo is the world's largest marsupial as well as a recognisable symbol of Australia. The new design proved popular, although collectors and investors continue to refer to Australian Kangaroo coins as Gold Nuggets or Gold Kangaroo Nuggets. Now in its 29th year, the 1oz Gold Kangaroo Nugget is one of the Perth Mint's most successful products.
Why choose the 2018 1oz Australian Nugget Kangaroo gold coin?
