For the Perth Mint
This coin is produced by The Perth Mint, one of the most recognised and reliable mint in the world. Established on 20 June 1899, two years before Australia's Federation in 1901, The Perth Mint was the last of three Australian colonial branches of the United Kingdom's Royal Mint (after the now-defunct Sydney Mint and Melbourne Mint) intended to refine gold from the gold rushes and to mint gold sovereigns and half-sovereigns for the British Empire. The Perth Mint not only has amazing skills from its long and respected history, but its successful modernisation allows the production of outstanding coins.
For the popular Kangaroo Series
You should also definitely purchase this coin on StoneX Bullion because the Kangaroo is a popular coin series and is well recognised worldwide. The Perth Mint Kangaroo series was first launched in 1986. Initially, the Mint launched a ‘gold nugget’ coin with an image of a nugget. This was to symbolize the rich mining history of Australia. But in 1988, the design changed to portray an image of a Red Kangaroo. It has been featured on the coin since then but every year, we can find a different design. The fact that each year, the Perth Mint features new kangaroo imagery on its Gold Kangaroo coins, makes the series extremely popular with both gold investors and collectors alike..
For the beautiful reverse
The 2023 design portrays a kangaroo looking over its shoulder with a eucalyptus tree and grass trees in the background. The design incorporates the inscription ‘KANGAROO’, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, the 2023 year-date and the coin’s weight and purity.
The details of the kangaroo but also of the trees and the vegetation in the background are amazing. The beautiful design was created by Ing Ing Jong who, after studying at the Central School of art and design in Perth was invited to join the Perth Mint as a coin designer in 2011.
For the memorial obverse
Queen Elizabeth II was also queen of Australia and well loved in the country. All coins from the 2023 Australian Kangaroo Bullion Coin Series portray the official ‘Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse’, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign – ‘1952 – 2022’. Queen Elizabeth II is dressed in her diadem crown and royal jewels, facing towards the right. The design was created by Jody Clark and chosen in 2015 through a competition commissioned by the United Kingdom’s Royal Mint Advisory Committee. The top of the coin features the words ‘Elizabeth II’, and ‘Australia’ and at the bottom of the coin is its face value of $25 Australian Dollars. On the queen’s right shoulder are the initials ‘JC’ for ‘Jody Clark’.
