Collectible coins
While the bulk of the trading volume of coins is made up of bullion coins, there are also so-called collector coins. These are valid means of payment which are characterised by special features such as coloured imprints, particularly detailed minting, high-relief minting or all of these at the same time. These coins are not intended to be traded by private individuals or dealers, but have an emotional value. They usually remain in collections for a long time and are mainly traded among collectors. In most cases, the number of collector coins in circulation is strictly limited.
