China Gold Coin Inc.
China Gold Coin Inc. (CGCI) is a Shenzhen-based company under the direct supervision of the People's Bank of China.
CGCI was founded in 1987 for the sole purpose of designing, manufacturing and marketing Chinese commemorative and investment coins in the four precious metal types. The main motif chosen was the protected panda bear, which is not only a national symbol but also the oldest ambassador of the Republic of China.
In addition, China Gold Coin Inc. is responsible for planning and coordinating domestic demand for investment metals in consultation with the central bank. The company is represented abroad by subsidiaries.
The China Great Wall Coins & Investments Ltd. (website) was given the task of acting as a link between the producer and the international distributors (= wholesalers). The Hong Kong based company is mainly responsible for the sales markets in Europe and America and partly for Asia.
In Asia itself, China Gold Coin Inc. is represented by further subsidiaries, cooperation or joint venture partners.
The Chinese panda coins are marketed under the official name "Chinese Gold Silver Commemorative Coins" (CGSCC). The pandas are released every year with a new design in gold and silver. The platinum and palladium version of the panda is currently not minted.
